Community Planning

A group of volunteer litter-pickersThe Community Partnership develop and drive the delivery of the Sustainable Community Strategy.

The Community Strategy is developed by looking at key information and statistical data about the area and by listening to the views of people who live and work in the area.

For more information about anything on the page please contact Jo Ireland, Community Partnerships Manager, jo.ireland@scarborough.gov.uk.

What is a Community Strategy?

The Community Strategy is like a grand plan for the area. It sets out a shared vision for the area, identifies what is important and what needs to be done in order to improve the economic, social and environmental well being of the borough.

The Community Strategy is a partnership strategy, and can only be delivered through a wide range of partners from the public, private, voluntary and community sector, working together and using the strategy to influence the way they develop and deliver services.

Local Community Planning

Local community plans influence the borough-wide Community Strategy. Within the borough there are many communities and neighbourhoods who are working together to produce local plans for their community. This includes parish and town plans and community action plans (for example in Barrowcliff and Eastfield).
